Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents who are ineligible for the UNSW ACCESS scheme but who have missed out on direct entry may be able to enter UNSW Australia after successfully completing a UNSW Foundation Studies program with a qualifying academic result.
UNSW Foundation Studies is the longest running and leading pre‐university foundation program in Australia, located on campus at UNSW Australia (the University of New South Wales). Our academic programs provide a pathway into undergraduate programs at UNSW.
As a guide, the minimum entry requirement for our Standard Program is an ATAR of 60 and for our Transition Program an ATAR of 75. On a case by case basis we may offer our 12 month Standard Plus program to students who do not meet the Standard Program entry requirements. Minimum mathematics and science requirements apply to Commerce and Science streams of study.
Students are strongly encouraged to enrol in a UNSW Foundation Studies program that finishes in time to apply for a university place in Semester 1 (February/March). The appropriate UNSW Foundation Studies programs would be the October Extended Foundation program, January Standard Plus program, April Standard program or the August Transition program. All applications will be assessed carefully. We encourage you to submit previous school reports and a letter of recommendation from Careers Advisors to support your application.
