How we assess

Assessments will take place throughout the duration of the course through;

  • Assignments
  • Tutorials and laboratory sessions
  • Semester examinations
  • Final examinations

In general, final exam results are weighted more than Semester exam results. Therefore, if your results are low in the first semester and high in the final exam your overall result will reflect this (this applies to Standard Plus and Standard programs only).

Example- Mathematics subject in the Foundation Studies Standard Program

If your Semester exam result is 64/100 and your Final exam result is 88/100, then your final overall result will be 80.8 and Letter Grade B as seen in the table below:

Mathematics 64/100 30% 88/100 70% 80.8/100

Performance in each course is expressed in terms of a letter grade with an associated grade point and overall program performance is expressed as a Grade Point Average (GPA). Calculate your GPA.
